Gathering with the Classics is a special car show, to be held in Auburn, Indiana May 27-28, 2011.

The Gathering is open to all makes, models and types of cars, including street rods, sports cars, muscle cars, restorations, classic cars, original, modified and custom cars.

Auburn, Indiana has had a love affair with the automobile since 1900 when Frank and Morris Eckhart built their first horseless carriage in a corner of their father’s buggy factory and started the Auburn Automobile Company.

Now home to three automotive museums, Auburn, “The Home of the Classics,”  is the perfect site for a car show and easy to get to, at Exit 129 on I-69, twenty minutes north of Fort Wayne, Indiana .

The museums, The Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum, The National Automobile and Truck Museum, and the Kruse Automotive and Carriage Museum make automobile history come to life. Auburn is a beautiful town, featuring the elegant homes of many of the Auburn Automobile Company executives on its tree-lined streets.

Many events are scheduled over the three and a half day event, including scenic country tours, car games, competitive events, social activities, a downtown Cruise-In and the main event, a car show in Eckhart Park.   A block of rooms has been reserved at the Quality Inn, (formerly the Auburn Inn).

The show begins on Friday, May 27 with a Tour and Car Display, Welcome Reception and Bar-B-Q dinner and a special “Tire Kicking” at the restored 1929 Sinclair Station.

On Saturday, May 28, the day starts with an Early Morning Breakfast Run at 7:00 AM.  The feature of the day is the Show and Shine from  9:00 AM  to 4:30 PM at Eckhart Park.  Fun Games will also be at the Park.

Those attending may also wish to visit the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum, National Automobile and Truck Museum, and Kruse Automotive and Carriage Museum on their own..   From 3:00 to 4:30 PM,   a Scenic Country Drive /Rally will be available.

In the evening we’ll have a Cruise-In at the courthouse square in Auburn from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM.   Special contests and events will be included at the CRUISE-IN.
